CALM Project Launch, Four Seasons Hotel, Carlingford

AXL Audiovisual was proud to support the official launch of the CALM Project (Catchment Action for Local Management), a major cross-border environmental initiative led by East Border Region Ltd.

Hosted at the Four Seasons Hotel in Carlingford, the event brought together representatives from local authorities, environmental organisations, research institutions, and community stakeholders from across Ireland and Northern Ireland.

The launch marked the beginning of a collaborative effort to improve water quality and ecosystem health across several cross-border river catchments.

About the CALM Project

The CALM project has been developed to address environmental challenges affecting river systems across the region. Supported through PEACEPLUS funding and managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB), the initiative focuses on practical and collaborative approaches to environmental protection.

Led by East Border Region Ltd, the project is delivered in partnership with:

  • Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council

  • The Loughs Agency

  • Inland Fisheries Ireland

  • Ulster University

  • Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute

The programme aims to reduce nutrient and sediment loads in river catchments, improve water quality, and support nature recovery through research, innovation and community engagement.

Delivering the Technical Setup

For the launch event, AXL Audiovisual was tasked with creating a professional conference environment that would support a full programme of presentations and speakers.

The production setup included:

  • Two large-format LED video walls to deliver high-impact presentation visuals

  • Professional stage and lectern setup for keynote speakers

  • Wireless microphone systems for panel discussions and presentations

  • A PA system with digital mixing console to ensure clear audio throughout the venue

  • Stage lighting to enhance speaker visibility and presentation quality

  • Comfort monitors for presenters and integrated presentation control

This technical configuration allowed speakers and project partners to deliver detailed presentations and discuss the ambitions of the CALM initiative with clarity and confidence.

According to the event specification, the setup featured two 4m x 2m high-resolution LED video walls, professional audio systems, wireless microphones, staging, and presentation technology installed and operated by AXL technicians.

Seamless Event Delivery

Our team handled delivery, setup, operation, and de-rig, ensuring the event ran smoothly from the first presentation through to the closing remarks.

With multiple partners involved and a detailed programme to deliver, reliability and clear communication were essential. By providing a fully managed AV solution, the organisers were able to focus on the content of the event and the importance of the project launch.

Supporting Meaningful Projects

Events like the CALM Project launch highlight how conferences can bring together organisations, research institutions and communities around shared environmental goals.

We were pleased to support East Border Region and their partners as they launched a programme designed to protect and improve river ecosystems across the border region.
