AXL Audiovisual designs and supplies event lighting for conferences, awards ceremonies, gala dinners, exhibitions and live music across Belfast, Dublin and the island of Ireland. We cover stage and presenter lighting, brand colour washes, architectural and venue uplighting, and full show lighting programmed and operated live. Lighting is designed for the specific room and the specific event, not pulled from a package, and we programme and operate on site.

Our lighting stock is chosen for reliability under show conditions rather than spec-sheet headlines. Control runs on Avolites Titan, with fixtures from Chauvet Professional and ADJ, atmospherics by Antari, and rigging on Global Truss with Doughty ballast and Kuzar lifters.

Lighting is the difference between an event that photographs well and one that does not.

Most corporate events are documented. There is a photographer, there is usually video, and the pictures are the thing that outlives the day. A room that looked acceptable to the eye can look flat, yellow and cheap in the photographs, and by then it is too late to fix.

We light for three audiences at once. The people in the room, who need to see the stage and feel like they are somewhere. The person on stage, who needs a clean front key so they do not appear as a silhouette against a bright screen. And the camera, which is far less forgiving than the human eye about colour temperature, contrast and the gap between stage brightness and screen brightness.

When there is an LED wall behind the presenter, the two have to be balanced deliberately. That is one of the most common problems we get called in to fix on events other people have specified, and it is much cheaper to solve at the design stage than on the day.

Frequently asked Questions

  • It depends on the size of the room, whether you need a designed show or general coverage, and whether an operator is required for the duration. A colour wash and basic presenter lighting for a conference is a different scale of job from a programmed awards show with reveals and moving lights. We quote against your running order and venue.

    We check all three before quoting. If you tell us the venue, there is a good chance we have already worked in it.

    Send us the venue, the guest number and the seating layout and we will tell you what actually fits, including whether the room can take it.

  • Yes. Send us your brand colour references and we will match the wash, uplighting and stage looks to them. It is one of the cheapest ways to make a venue look like it belongs to your organisation for the day.

  • For a static colour wash, usually not. For an awards ceremony, a keynote with entrances and exits, or anything with a programmed sequence, yes. Live shows change on the day and a lighting state that was right in rehearsal often needs adjusting once the room is full.

  • We plan around them. Most hotel and conference venues have house lighting that is designed for meetings rather than shows, and it often needs to be dimmed or partially switched off. We agree that with the venue in advance so it is not a negotiation on the day.

  • Yes, and we design with that in mind by default. If you have a camera crew or a photographer, tell us at the quoting stage so we can set colour temperature and stage levels to suit them.
