Centre for Democracy and Peace Event, Titanic Hotel, Belfast
The Event
To mark the 5th anniversary of its Fellowship Programme, the Centre for Democracy and Peace Building hosted a special evening event at the Titanic Hotel Belfast. The occasion brought together fellows, partners, and guests to reflect on five years of learning, dialogue, and impact.
The brief was clear: create a professional, respectful environment that supported storytelling, reflection, and discussion — without distracting from the purpose of the evening.
The Challenge
This was a content-led event with a mix of presentations, speakers, and conversation. The AV setup needed to be reliable, discreet, and visually strong, while fitting naturally into the space at Titanic Hotel. Clear audio and clean visuals were essential, particularly for speakers sharing personal and impactful stories.
Our Solution
Team AXL delivered a full AV setup designed to support the flow of the evening and keep the focus on the speakers.
At the centre of the room, we installed a 6m x 2.5m LED video wall, providing a clear, high-resolution display for presentations and visual content. The wall was built on Revostage decking, raised on 600mm legs, and finished neatly with a stage skirt to create a clean focal point .
Visual control was handled through a Roland video switcher, supported by presentation laptops, a wireless clicker, and a 75” relay screens to help share content for those at the back of the room.
For audio, we supplied a full PA system including EV ETX speakers and subwoofers, powered by a Midas M32r digital mixing console. A combination of lectern, handheld and headset microphones gave flexibility for different speakers and formats, ensuring clear, consistent sound across the room .
Lighting was kept simple and effective. LED PARs and profile fixtures were used to wash the stage evenly and highlight speakers, adding warmth and definition without overpowering the room .
Delivery
Three AXL technicians were onsite throughout the event to handle delivery, setup, live operation, and de-rig, ensuring everything ran smoothly from arrival through to the final speaker .
The Result
The event ran seamlessly, with the AV setup supporting the tone and intent of the evening rather than competing with it. Speakers were clearly seen and heard, content flowed smoothly, and the room maintained a calm, professional atmosphere throughout.
It was a privilege to support such a meaningful milestone for the Centre for Democracy and Peace Building, and to play a small part in marking five years of their Fellowship programme.
