Loughmacrory GAA Gala Dinner, Great Northern Hotel, Bundoran

Team AXL hit the road for the Loughmacrory GAA Gala Dinner, held at the Great Northern Hotel in Bundoran. With a packed room, live entertainment, and a special live recording of The GAA Social podcast, this was a standout night that needed a robust and flexible AV setup.

To make it happen, we loaded up two vans in Belfast and headed west to deliver a full production solution for the evening.

A Big Visual Setup

At the heart of the room were three LED video walls, each measuring 4m x 2m, creating a strong visual backdrop for the stage. These were used throughout the night for event branding, video playback, live camera feeds, and the podcast recording visuals.

The LED walls were driven by a Roland vision mixing setup, supported by multiple presentation laptops and signal distribution to keep everything running smoothly and reliably .

Live Podcast Recording

A key part of the evening was the live recording of The GAA Social podcast, which required careful audio and camera planning. We supplied multiple cameras, tripods, and converters to capture the discussion, alongside a full audio setup to ensure both the live audience and the recording received clear, broadcast-quality sound.

This included a Midas M32R digital console, stagebox, a wide range of wireless microphones, and additional mics for panel-style discussion .

Audio & Lighting for the Room

To cover the space properly, we installed a full -lacoustics PA system, ensuring even sound coverage for speeches, podcast content, and entertainment later in the evening.

Lighting played a big role in setting the tone. We supplied a comprehensive lighting package including LED PAR uplighters, moving heads, LED bars, and profile fixtures, all controlled from an Avolites console. This allowed us to move easily between formal dinner lighting, podcast focus, and more dynamic looks as the night progressed .

Onsite Support

Our team handled delivery, setup, operation, and de-rig, with four technicians onsite throughout the day and evening to manage audio, lighting, visuals, and the live recording .

A Brilliant Night for the Club

It was a great night celebrating Loughmacrory GAA, with a strong crowd, plenty of energy, and a memorable live podcast element that added something different to the evening.

A big effort from everyone involved — and a solid example of how the right AV setup can support everything from formal presentations to live broadcast-style content.

Andrew Murray

Since starting out in the AV industry in 2015, I’ve always believed that great events come down to the people behind them. I spent several years freelancing across almost every AV company in Ireland, building experience and understanding what really matters on site. Like many in the industry, COVID brought a pause, but it also gave me the push to refocus and build something of my own.

Today, I’m focused on growing AXL into one of the leading AV production companies in Ireland. We now deliver AV for over 300 events each year, from smaller corporate meetings to large-scale productions. The aim is straightforward: do the job properly, be dependable, and help clients deliver events they can be proud of.
